I would like to start by thanking all those that have made a contribution to the Foodbank both here at Ascension & in our name at the bank. We are now over the 200lbs mark with our last donation (this doesn’t include the fat wads of cash &
checks some of you gave). Thank you, thank you, thank you.
March’s Guided Meditation focus will be on using the visualizations of “going up or floating away”. Most times we use going down, ex. counting down, stairs down, going deeper, etc.
Going up or floating away in meditation can bring on feelings of bliss, euphoria, drug like highs, some feel like they leave their bodies, others say they encounter spirituality in different forms of people or iconography (a scientific way to say spirit guides, god, dead wise ones, etc.) The floating can also make you feel more creative, clear, & energized more then other techniques as it keeps your mind in a situation that it has not ever experienced.
This meditation method is also great for those people that may find going down scary or anxiety causing. Remember no method or mediation technique works for everyone. Trying different and varied meditations will not only expand your mind but will show you what works best in your own meditation practice.
“Join Jason at Ascension Wellness for a guided meditation. This session will be about an hour long & most of it will be in meditation. Great for the absolute beginner to learn what meditation can be. Excellent for the advanced to learn new techniques & support your practice. Bring your own blanket, pillow, or yoga mat as we have a limited supply.”
What to expect: Nothing weird. No chanting, dancing, or recruiting to a cult. Just scientifically justified breathing & visualization. Good meditation technique & others who want to meditate with you. We will start with a few basics, answer questions, then relax & meditate.
When/ Where: Friday March 12th 2010, 8pm, Ascension Wellness Center, Des Moines, WA.
